The lighthouse on the rice field is the most iconic building of the "Wan Mu Fang" project in Xiwu Street, Fenghua District, Ningbo. Its completion provides a new viewing spot and social gathering place for the local village. The watchtower, with a height of 23m, is located in the central area of high-standard farmland in the state-level modern agriculture pilot demonstration zone. Spiraling out of a rice field like a sculpture, the triangular elements and PTFE membrane structure define its simple design language and give it a strong presence in the rural landscape.
Source of inspiration
Inspired by the abstract expression of mature rice ears, the design completes the form and structure of the entire building with a unified triangle as the matrix, which changes, rotates and reconstructs in vertical height. The surface of the building is a white high-strength PTFE membrane, each layer is staggered, and the visual experience of moving through the frame changes during the walking path to the tower. Marriott space structure in the membrane construction and installation, carefully do a good job of quality projects, excellence in the installation process, and finally make the lighthouse perfect in front of the public.
Land landscape and agriculture
In the landscape, we can see vast farmlands, verdant crops, and diverse ecosystems. Farmland has always been a symbol and microcosm of the close relationship between man and nature. Farmers and nature work together to sow, cultivate and harvest, and nature nourishes not only our bodies, but also our spirits. With the development of urbanization, a large number of people have moved from the countryside to the city, resulting in the continuous alienation of people from the natural environment.
Humanized design
The project promotes a connection between visitors and the natural world in an architectural form. Its unique architectural form draws people from the city, along the field road, from far to near, different angles show different shapes, come to the tower, people's attention is thus attracted by the endless rice fields around. At this moment, the watchtower becomes the natural background, visitors sit on the stone bench at the edge of the field, or climb the stairs to overlook the 10,000 mu of good fields, see the wind gently blowing over the rice fields, rice waves undulation, such as ripples dance. The fragrance of the earth passes the cheek, making the mind calm and forget the flow of time. Night falls, the indoor light through the PTFE film, like using a soft brush on the canvas gently faint, in the night, the watchtower is like a hazy wonderland on the earth, gentle and mysterious. The project is open to all, and visitors in wheelchairs can also access the top floor via the core elevator at the center of the ground floor. From the observation deck on the top floor, one can get a 360-degree view that extends to villages and cities in the distance.
