Stadium 974 is the world's first completely detachable football stadium and one of eight for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 974 stadium is made of 974 containers
974 Stadium manager Mohamed Al Atwan said the unique stadium embodies the heritage and sustainability of the Qatar World Cup. He said the 974 in the name of the course is the 974 containers used to build the course, and 974 is also the international telephone code for Qatar.
"Because of the special location of the 974, there is no need for cooling technology like other stadiums in Qatar," he said. The 974 stadium is 4km from downtown Doha and can be reached by the Gold Line of the Doha Metro.
The 974 course, with a capacity of 40,000 spectators, received a five-star rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS) administered by the Gulf Research and Development Organization (GORD). The 974 stadium will host seven matches during the World Cup.
